Our faculty, consisting of teachers, cooks, and a driver / maintenance lead, is the group that makes our community possible every day. Because we are a close-knit, boarding community, faculty are involved in nearly every aspect of life at the school, from teaching classes to coaching sports, helping with dishes to supervising work programs, advising students to running clubs.
Because of our immersive nature, teaching at USAP Community School is an intense experience, but also a rewarding one. We seek teachers who have high standards for their students, and look forward to seeing significant growth among their classes, even over the course of a year. We also want people who will be active and thoughtful community members, participating throughout the school, taking initiative to help in areas where there is a need, and encouraging those around them.
In addition to the satisfaction of teaching excellent students who would otherwise not have access to a high-quality education, teachers receive:
- $500 per month
- Comprehensive health insurance, that covers private hospital care, from a respected Zimbabwean provider
- Room and board, including meals on campus
- Travel costs covered, when it is necessary for school business
We typically open our application process during June, and keep applications open until positions are filled, but we encourage year-round inquiries from interested individuals. Please see our page on Idealist.org to view any openings, and find out more information.
