Convocation

With the USAP program dating back 20 years, we have a deep network of alumni and friends in Zimbabwe and abroad, whose talents and experiences are of interest to our students. Our weekly Convocation event brings someone in from outside the school each week to address the students and have lunch with them after. Recent Convocation speakers have included:

  • Clive Msipa, member of USAP’s first class and the founder and CEO of Untu Microfinance
  • Sinikiwe Kademaunga, a USAP alum, motivational speaker, and advocate for the rights of disabled people
  • Jennifer Kyker, ethnomusicology professor at Rochester and scholar of Zimbabwean music; and many others
  • Chiza Mwinde, a USAP alum and Research Assistant at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University
  • Tim Middleton, CEO of the Association for Trust Schools (ATS) in Zimbabwe
  • Elizabeth Kiss, Warden of Rhodes House, Oxford University, and CEO of the Rhodes Trust
  • Eric Braverman, CEO of Schmidt Futures, a venture facility for public benefit founded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt
  • Brian A. Nichols, US Ambassador to Zimbabwe
